16 Apr ASHLEE AND JASON BINGEL
Ashlee and Jason Bingel are both educators who live in Senoia with their 3 children. Ashlee teaches 2nd grade and Jason teaches Middle School Engineering. Ashlee and Jason became foster parents in July to two children who had recently had to be separated from one of their siblings. These 2 children came to Ashlee and Jason with several behavioral challenges and past trauma. Ashlee and Jason quickly provided these children with routine, structure, and love, and are seeing the kids thrive and grow.
Being an educator, Ashlee often saw foster children at school who had significant behavior challenges. Seeing these children made Ashlee just want to take them home and invest in their lives, give them love. However, Ashlee didn’t feel that it would be possible with the 3 children they currently had. Then one day Jason mentioned to Ashlee that he would love to foster. As Ashlee had already been thinking about fostering, they soon started their training with Bloom. Ashlee and Jason explained that fostering during Covid gave their family time to be together, it gave them a break because everything just stopped for a while. This allowed for some special family time. With Covid, Ashlee was able to do virtual teaching this year, which helped her to be more energized and able to give their foster kids the attention that they need.
The foster children that Ashlee and Jason care for have experienced so much personal growth since being placed with them. Ashlee and Jason love to see the interactions between their foster children and biological children. Their foster children have developed problem-solving skills are able to process their emotions, they have learned boundaries, they have learned how to be constructive instead of destructive, and how to be kind towards others. Ashlee and Jason are proud to see how fostering these children has helped the growth of their own children, their kids are much more patient and like to help take care of each other. Ashlee and Jason feel very blessed to see how their family has grown together. Ashlee and Jason appreciate the opportunity to reach the kids in their care and provide a safe home and positive impact in their lives.
