To say that 2013 has been a year of change doesn’t begin to describe the growth that has taken place in our organization. The year started off with the incredible gift from SMC3 of an 8,000 square foot building, the kind of “in-your-dreams” building that makes the staff want to all pinch ourselves when we pull into the parking lot every morning. With the new building came the challenge of turning its bare walls into a magical place where children in need could walk through the doors and instantly know they are among people who care. A place where foster parents gather for training and fellowship. A place with room for volunteer groups to interact with staff and children. Where Board members meet each month and plan for the future. With the support of individuals, civic groups, businesses and foundations, by April, 2013, we met the challenge of transforming the building into the place of our dreams.
The new building is just the beginning of where we want to take this organization. Our new name, “Bloom,” reflects our vision that all children matter and that foster children in particular can rise above their circumstances to realize their God-given abilities and achieve their personal best. Our dream is to see the day when no child is left homeless or without parental care in Georgia. Looking ahead to 2014, we are committed to addressing the critical need for strengthening foster care in Georgia and to offering key solutions through our programs. We hope you join us as we champion the cause of displaced youth….stay tuned for even better things to come in the year ahead!
